Thought I'd share some recent discoveries:
For the Italo-disco lover, I just discovered a listing of goldmine italo-disco music videos. The DMP site is really geared to the mixes, which I gather are composed of all old disco rarities. I haven't listened to any, but sounds fun.
That site also led me to Euro-flash, which has a fun Unofficial Italo Disco History as well as info on obscure italo schtuff. I'll read it when I'm attempting not to procrastinate on my thesis.
So I found these through a DMP add on Dream Chimney, which is a random little site with dream postings, and youtube music videos. The site reads:
Videos will cover the progressive, psychedelic, soft (yacht), classic, Acid Adult Contemporary, and pop rock generes specifically. Other genres include many of the popular ones created on 'Track of the Day'. This site will not be for metal, glam or almost all music made between 1990 and today.
It also has tracks of the day, all of which seem to be pretty awesome. Today's included some Christian prog rock, a grimy Funkadelic melody, and this little number:
(German acidtrip spacerock)
Finally the site that really started it all is my new blogcrush Arawa.fm . It's a lovely mixture of weird things, especially disco or electro related, things on VHS and made in the eighties, i.e. pretty much everything that is closest to my soul. I'm following the bloggers--geordi_laforge and seandonson--on Twitter (as well as MikeSimonetti from Class Candy and the Italians Do It Better label). Kindof makes me feel super cool. By the way their posts are way better than Diplo's, who posts inane things way too frequently.
Speaking of Italians Do it Better, twitter let me know about the new release Twisted Wires. Click for a taste.
